WHAT WILL MY CHILD/TEEN RECEIVE WITH THEIR CAMP OR WORKSHOP REGISTRATION?

  • A full camp program with real-time classes

  • Smaller group sizes

  • Engaging and interactive, age-appropriate content

  • Personal support from our staff and administration throughout the camp week

  • Robotics themed workshops will receive equipment kits to use for the weeks of camp

    • Robots will be shipped to student for Robotics Camp.  The Robot is owned by student.

  • If applicable, we will be providing required accounts, educational licenses, and software downloads for all activities,

WHAT WILL A VIRTUAL CAMP WORKSHOP LOOK LIKE?

Student will interact online through webcam and online platform with teachers and other students to learn the specific course they are registered for.  Some classes students will be in group labs to complete specific projects with classmates.  All settings are monitored with moderators.

WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL WE NEED TO SET UP AT HOME?

  • Access to a computer or laptop for in class and group lab, and also to work on their projects

  • A second screen that is large enough to view and follow along with the instructor’s lesson. While a large tablet can be used for one of the screens, we highly recommend a second monitor if possible

  • A reliable internet connection

  • A functional webcam or built-in camera to participate in some activities

  • Headphones/earbuds to participate in activities and communication with their instructions.  This is not mandatory

AS A PARENT, DO I NEED TO STAY IN THE ROOM WITH MY CHILD/TEEN?

You will not have to stay in the same room during camp activities, but you may need to offer support if they experience connection issues. Parent involvement is necessary (especially with our younger campers), but mainly with equipment setup and to help campers connect to our online camp activities.

WHAT IS EXTENSION LAB?

The majority of our camps include homework and research that will need to be completed by the student in order for him/her to be prepared for the following day.

WHAT SOFTWARE WILL I REQUIRE?

No software needed except for accessing Zoom or whatever class platform we use.

WHY ARE THE VIRTUAL CAMPS FOR TEENS THE SAME PRICE?

Teen camp fees will be remaining the same, as virtual camps require many of the same costs as in-person camps. In addition to these regular costs, virtual camps also require smaller class sizes, additional instructors for these smaller camp groups, personalized support, extra software licenses, and more.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD/TEEN DO DURING THEIR SCHEDULED BREAK TIMES?

We ask that campers spend their break times away from all screens so they can rest their eyes and re-energize (please enforce this if possible)! We recommend that our campers use this time for bathroom breaks, to grab something to eat and drink, stretch, participate in offline activities, and/or get some fresh air!

WHAT TECHNOLOGY WILL YOU BE USING FOR THE CAMPS AND CLASSES?

For kids camps, we will likely be using Zoom (or a similar application) to livestream our class activities and interact with our campers. For teen camps, we will be using Discord and/or Zoom to livestream our lessons and communicate with our teens! Please note that this is subject to change as we are we are constantly exploring more virtual camp options.
